Sports Injuries

Sports injuries are commonly seen in Dr O’Sullivan’s clinic. These can be anything from a simple ankle sprain to a major ligamentous tear requiring surgical reconstruction. Dr O’Sullivan is happy to see acute sports injuries in his clinic as a matter of urgency and will organise appropriate imaging and follow up. The most common sports injury requiting surgery is ankle instability which sees the patient often have arthroscopic assessment of the ankle joint and lateral ligament stabilisation. The surgical recovery of this procedure is approximately 3 months before return to running, jumping and impact sports.
