Hind foot fusion of either the ankle, subtalar or the mid-tarsal joint is frequently done for gross arthritis with deformity. These procedures are usually done openly although can be done percutaneously with the arthroscope but still require 3months of CAM boot immobilisation. The patient is assisted with crutches, walking frame or walking scooter to mobilise and requires physiotherapy to assist with rehabilitation.
